SUNO UPDATES
v6: three model variants
Announced: 9 September 2026 · Sources checked: 25 September 2026
Three variants, different starting points
Suno presents v6 as its general-purpose option, v6-wild as more experimental and v6-mini as lighter and faster. All three support generations of up to eight minutes. Pro or Premier is required for v6 and v6-wild; v6-mini is available on all plans. These are documented descriptions, not an A.I.S.C quality ranking. [1]
Where to choose your model
Open the Create form and use the model picker in the top-right corner. Select a variant before generating. The guide says your selection remains active until changed. If you use features such as Custom Models or Voices, check compatibility rather than assuming every combination behaves the same way. [2]
What a request can include
The announcement describes editing a song section, combining elements from several tracks, working from a sample and replacing a lyric. Images and video can also serve as inputs. Our suggestion is to begin with one specific edit so that you can judge its result clearly. This is a workflow choice, not a documented restriction. [4]
What happens to older songs
The FAQ says pre-v6 models have been retired while existing recordings remain in the library. New iterations use the newer models. Keeping an original recording therefore does not mean you can run its old model again. That distinction matters when returning to an older project. [3]
Cost and control
The FAQ lists a standard cost of 10 credits for two songs, while multiple image or video inputs can increase it. Max Mode also costs more. The Variety slider changes the style prompt; zero is intended to retain control over your tags. Check the displayed cost before generating. [3]
Compare with a purpose
A.I.S.C suggestion: keep the lyrics and arrangement brief consistent, record the model used, then compare phrasing, structure and emotional fit. Avoid deciding from the opening seconds alone. A simple record of these choices can support a more deliberate selection, while leaving the musical judgment with you.
