SUNO UPDATES
Studio: MIDI updates and clip renaming
Announced: 17 September 2026 · Sources checked: 25 September 2026
What changed in September?
The 17 September release note covers generating audio from MIDI and creating MIDI parts through chat. Suno claims faster, more accurate audio generation and better prompt results. A.I.S.C has not measured those improvements. The update also adds clip renaming through the right-click menu or a chat instruction. [1]
MIDI is not recorded audio
A MIDI clip stores notes; an instrument turns them into sound. You can adjust pitch and duration before settling on a tone. New MIDI tracks in Studio include the Wavetable synth. The piano roll lets you move or resize notes and align their timing to a rhythmic grid. [2]
Start without extra equipment
Add a track, choose MIDI, create a blank clip and double-click it to open the note editor. You can enter notes with the mouse or play using your computer keyboard. Suno recommends Chrome and notes that Safari does not support Web MIDI, which matters when connecting an external controller. [2]
Keep control of chat edits
Studio Chat is in beta and uses project context, including the selected clip. Select a track or clip and press Enter to open it. The documentation describes generating parts, editing clips and undoing changes. Our practical suggestion is to select the exact passage before asking for an edit. That reduces ambiguity; it does not guarantee a particular musical result. [3]
A listening check for your own track
A.I.S.C suggestion: start with a short motif you know well. Compare its rhythm, melodic shape and phrase endings before and after the change. Then listen with the rest of the arrangement. Keep the new part only if it serves the song. This is a proposed listening exercise, not a report from a completed test.
