EQ and compression: getting started in Suno Studio

Two tools, two purposes: tone shaping and dynamics control. A short explanation with official Suno sources.

New guides to existing tools

Suno published its EQ article on 29 September and its compression article on 22 September 2026. These are educational posts, not launch dates for the effects.

EQ: shaping tone

EQ raises or lowers selected frequencies. Suno recommends judging by listening, considering cuts before boosts and trying EQ before other effects. That order is a starting point, not a fixed rule. [1]

Compression: controlling dynamics

A compressor reduces variation in audio level. Threshold sets the trigger level, ratio sets the reduction, and attack and release control response and recovery. Makeup gain can raise the level afterwards. Excessive compression may reduce the recording’s dynamic character. [2]

Suno Studio is a DAW, a digital audio workstation. The cited Suno article lists Studio as included with Premier. [2]

A.I.S.C practice: compare rather than copy a recipe

We suggest starting with a project copy and a short passage you know well. Switch one effect on and off, comparing at a similar listening level. Check both the solo vocal and the full mix. Keep a change only if it helps you hear what matters in the track.

This is an exercise for your own experiments. There is no universal setting here for every voice, bass or drum track.
